Ancient Wisdom. Everyday Life. A God Who Guides.

What does it look like to live wisely — in your home, your work, your relationships, your speech, your heart?

The book of Proverbs is God's own handbook for real life. And in Proverbs For You, biblical scholar and teacher Kathleen Nielson opens this rich and ancient book with the care of a careful expositor and the warmth of a trusted friend. She shows that the wisdom of Proverbs is not merely practical advice for getting through the day — it is a portrait of Jesus Christ, the one in whom all wisdom is embodied and fulfilled.

This is a guide for ordinary Christians who want to live wisely in the thousand small decisions that make up a life.

What This Book Covers

Unlike topical studies of Proverbs that group verses by subject, Proverbs For You works through the book expositionally — following the text as it was originally written and intended to be read. Nielson carefully guides readers through:

The call to wisdom (Proverbs 1–9) — Lady Wisdom's invitation and the contrasting folly that leads to ruin
The Proverbs of Solomon (Proverbs 10–22) — Short, pithy sayings on work, money, speech, family, and character
Wisdom in relationships and community (Proverbs 22–29) — How wisdom shapes the way we treat others
The closing portraits (Proverbs 30–31) — The fear of the Lord and the noble woman who embodies wisdom in everyday life
Christ as the fulfilment of wisdom — How Proverbs ultimately points to Jesus, wisdom personified

At every turn, Nielson connects the ancient text to the realities of modern Christian life.
